Pia Heidenmark Cook is Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) at Ingka Group, the largest IKEA franchisee with 377 stores in 30 markets across the world. With passion, drive and a team of sustainability professionals, she leads the sustainability agenda for the Ingka businesses within retail, shopping centres and Ingka Investment. This means setting bold goals, securing required prerequisites and enabling the movement needed among the 160 000+ co-workers. To address the key sustainability topics, she engages and collaborates with other companies, governmental bodies and NGOs, for instance with Cambridge Institute for Sustainable Leadership, at Climate Week, WBCSD, WEF events and Sustainable Brands. For several years, until 2017, she was co-chair of REAP, Retailers Environmental Action Programme, together with an EU Commission member.

Joining IKEA in 2008, she has been acting CSO and head of Sustainability of IKEA Group Retail & Expansion, embedding sustainability in IKEAs retail operations and contributing to a more sustainable offer. Before joining IKEA, Pia was VP of Corporate Social Responsibility at the Rezidor Hotel Group and chaired during this period the tourism branch of Prince of Wales Business Leader’s Forum, a membership organization for major international hotel brands. Since 1996 Pia has worked with, lectured and studied sustainability topics across academia, consultancy and business. She holds a Technical Licentiate degree, a M.Sc. in Environmental Management, from the University of Lund, and a M.Sc. in International Business Administration and Economics from Uppsala University, Sweden. She has lived in France and Belgium, and now lives in Sweden with Canadian husband and two daughters.
