Cathryn Clüver Ashbrook

Cathryn is a German-American political scientist and focuses on transatlantic relations, geopolitics and the impact of technology on foreign policy making. Previously, she served as Director and CEO of the German Council on Foreign Relations and for over a decade as the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Future of Diplomacy Project at Harvard Kennedy School – and from 2018-2021 – as the Director of the Project on Europe and the Transatlantic Relationship. In previous roles she worked in management consulting and in a board role at the European Policy Centre. She started her career as a broadcast journalist with CNN-International in Atlanta and London. She is an alumna of the Harvard Kennedy School, the London School of Economics and Brown University, an Eisenhower and a Truman Fellow and serves on several non-profit boards and advisory councils for academic institutions and think tanks in Europe and the United States.
